Hello everyone,
This blog will focus on solidifying
my living arrangements for my practicum experience. When I first talked to my
supervisor, I did mention my need for living arrangements while in Texas. She
informed me that the office could not supply it for me due to funding, but she
will help me find affordable living arrangements. In the interim, I reached out
to my sorority sisters to see if I would be able to live with any one of them.
I must admit that my supervisor went beyond my expectations when she emailed me
next. Her response included several different options all with pricing,
distance from campus, and recommendations. This list included several on-campus
arrangements in the residence halls, off-campus possibilities, and even a possible
higher education student who did not mind if I roomed with her. I took about
two weeks to weigh out all of my options before deciding to room with the
higher education student. I was able to talk to her a couple of times before
making my decision, and I feel really confident in my decision.
Most recently, my director and I
began discussion on my transportation to and from campus. I did inform her that
I would be able to bring my own vehicle down on the trip. She then informed me
on various options for parking to make sure they are within my budget. As of
now, my living arrangements are solidified for the entire month I will be
there. My parking permit is underway and should be finalized this week. Now, I
just have to pack and prepare. We are only 13 days away from my actual start
date for my practicum. As of now, I am still super excited, but the butterflies
are still caterpillars. I will keep you guys posted on my adventures at Texas
A&M University.
