Tate - Week 4 - Dept of Counseling & Ed Psych

Hi guys! I hope everyone has had a good holiday weekend. My last week and this weekend have been wild and really busy, ending with a trip to Chattanooga for my bday and white water rafting - woo!

I'm getting ready this Thursday to begin my third and final group counseling group for Practicum. It's so hard to believe that it's already a third of the way over. What an interesting, amazingly beneficial experience this has been. I can already see that I have changed as a leader (increased planning, improved listening/responding skills, higher awareness of people's needs to contribute, and more), and I'm really looking forward to getting what I've learned and who I've become into my future SA work.

This upcoming third group will undoubtedly present me with more opportunities to learn about group dynamics and about myself as a leader. Even though the design of the group time is the same for each 3-week session, the people who make up the groups are who ultimately define what it will be and how the makeup will look. Being able to roll with the changes and challenges that each group presents I a huge benefit for my future work. Who knows the makeup of the office(s) with which I'll be working. Having these experiences will certainly prepare me for working in a diverse environment. I'm really excited about the weeks ahead!
