Just when classes finish and I thought that things would calm down, they remain as busy as ever! Until our Practicum class is over, I will either be spending my time at MUW or at either RD or RA training. This is a busy time indeed. After a long break from MUW, almost two weeks, I've started up the commute to Columbus again. I'm just over halfway through my hours at the W and completed everything to do with Orientation.
I've now begun working on two projects that deal with Welcome Week, which is the first week before classes start. MUW hosts a ton of different activities to help get students involved and prepared for the upcoming academic year. My projects deal with the Organizations Fair (termed InvolvementPalooza), and the other is in regard to their day of service. These projects are similar in that I am contacting various organizations and figuring out their involvements with each respective event.
My first day back has been spent getting oriented to all of the information that I need to organize. My site supervisor, Jess and I had an extra long one on one to get caught up on life and the events that I am coordinating. It's difficult for me to help coordinate events for two different reasons, the first being I have never been to these events at MUW, so similar to their Orientation, I'm unsure of how they work. I spent a lot of time with Jess getting those things in order. The second reason is that my practicum will be over before Welcome Week happens. I'm planning on coming here to see all my hard work come to fruition but as we know, anything can come up when working in Student Affairs that may prevent me from attending the events.
I'll post more as the planning continues, hope everyone's having a great week!
