After close to 1,000 miles, driving through the mountains, and a lot of gas - I have safely made it to Dickinson. When I arrived to campus on Sunday I was starting to feel the nerves as how this experience would end up going. It made me feel like I was a freshman at college again coming to somewhere unknown and being left to figure out everything for myself. To my comfort and gut feeling everything has been more than I could have imagined. I was finally able to meet Mary (my supervisor) face to face as she welcomed me to my apartment late in the afternoon. My apartment is located across the street from campus and puts me only two blocks away from work - very convienent. The university owns the whole row of apartments near campus off the main street through town to seniors by drawing after knowing the final demand. I was given a schedule of events for the first two weeks of my time at Dickinson filled with meetings, tours, and everything you could imagine.
I was able to give myself a tour of campus after arriving by walking around and enjoying the nice weather at night. It is a very small but charming campus with beautiful buildings and architecture. I am anxious to be able to go inside and take a look at the quality of buildings this week. I start work tomorrow morning at 9:00 by meeting with my supervisor and staff to get me squared away for the first week. I am an excited/nervous newcomer to Dicksinson, but I know that everything is going to work out and be more than I could have asked for. I can't wait to fully understand the projects that I will be working on and be able to start something that I have been anticipating for so many months now. While there is fear in the back of my mind over my general thoughts about the university, me fitting in, and what I'll gain from being here - I just have to remember that this experience is going to be what I make of it.
** Having a little trouble with the camera, but pictures coming soon!

I'm excited for you to start your practicum Carrie, and I'm curious to see your take on what it's like to experience a smaller school. I hope you're enjoying this northern weather as much as I am!
