Reflection:
Hello, everyone! This week was definitely not as busy as last week was for me at MUW, but I still gained knowledge and experience that will guide me in my future experiences. Monday was the last day of orientation for the summer, and it was a very busy day. During orientation I made sure each orientation leader was where he or she was supposed to be, and I tried to keep the program running on schedule with as few glitches as possible. Overall, the final orientation session was exciting, and I'm so glad that I got the chance to talk to incoming freshman about all of their excitement/fears of coming to college for the first time.
Monday evening after orientation was over, Jessica- my supervisor- took all of the orientation team out to dinner at Harvey's in Columbus. It was so much fun to hang out with all of the orientation leaders throughout dinner. I can easily tell that working with the students will be my favorite part of whatever job I have when I grow up! At the end of dinner, we all signed posters for one another with words of encouragement. I was so surprised to see what each of the orientation leaders had to say about me. My favorite was, "You were the salt and pepper to our orientation team. Without you we tasted ok, but you helped take things to a whole new level." Comments like this help me to fully acknowledge that I have chosen the perfect career for my life. I enjoyed every minute of orientation.
After Monday, things were not quite as rushed around the office of student life. The most exhausting activity this week was to help clean out and
organize the craft/junk/resource closet for my supervisor. It was such a
great feeling when everything was in its place! I did get to help interview a potential new counselor for a job at the counseling center on MUW's campus and this opportunity was fun. It helped me understand a little bit more of how the interview process works, and gave me the chance to meet many more outstanding people than I would have ever had the chance to meet without this practicum experience.
Hope y'all have a great week this week! (:
