Moak- Multicultural Student Affairs @ SMU

Today has been all about getting oriented to the office, and getting paperwork done. I got my parking pass, got my housing access sorted out, and got my ID made. This afternoon, I'll go on a campus tour, get my IT username/password set up, work Orientation (!!!), and maybe squeeze in a campus tour. So far, everyone I've interacted with here at SMU has been wonderful. During the few minutes of downtime I've had in my office, I've begun doing research on Learning Communities, and how they function specifically with diversity as the main focus.

I'm really excited to dive in head-first, as it were, and I'll have a full rundown of orientation and how that went next week!

  1. Liz,

I know you are very excited to actually get started working at SMU with a diverse group of college students. It seems like you will be very busy while you are at your practicum site. While you are working at SMU, for this short period of time, I know you will gain many experiences you can take with you and use them in your future career in student affairs. I hope you learn as much as you can about learning communities and what they have to offer to a diverse group of students. Enjoy your time!
