Mcabee- Week 4- Career Center

Activities
-Helped work on the new resume section of the Career Center Module on Blackboard for the Distance Education students
-Discussed what we do at the Career Center to the Residence Directors of Mississippi State University
-Met with Site Supervisor

Reflection:
Last week was hectic for me because I had RD Training on top of practicum and on top of class as well. I actually had to call in and let the Career Center know that I could not work last Monday or Tuesday because my schedule was not going to permit me to do so. I already have my 100 hours, so all the hours I put in now will count as extra.
I have had an amazing experience at the Career Center and have been a great recruiter for them at summer orientation this summer. The RDs who I work with were also impressed with what I had to say to them during their training. I did not have to say much to them, but I knew what I was talking about. It felt good to hear the ladies whom I presented with talk great about me and tell everyone how hard I have worked this summer.
The Resume Module has been very difficult to try and understand. we are still learning the basics on how to add documents, presentations, and etc. to our course section on Blackboard. We are meeting with the lady in charge of the Blackboard program this week to see how our part of the Distance Education program works.
I did not do much this past week, but I did do some things. All the blogs from here on out will not be as long as the others, but they will have some content. For the remainder of the summer, it will mostly involve wrapping up the Blackboard Resume Module, mock interviews, and TypeFocus Assessments.

  1. Jacob,

I am looking forward to the simplified resume module. Being able to get your resume reviewed from a different location other than the Career Center can benefit several different student types. This concept, once tweaked, will be a stong tool that students could, and should use in the future. Let me know once everything is worked out!
