Bankhead - Week 4- Holmes Cultural Diversity Center

Activities:
- Continued all previous assignments from blog posts
- Attended planning meetings for international orientation

Reflection:
Well, I guess this post is better late than never. The past two weeks have been exceptionally busy and full of surprises. As we have ended one session of summer classes, we have not only started another session of classes, but I have also began Residence Director training for Housing and Residence Life. I feel like I am honestly just getting caught up and getting back into the swing of things. The most interesting thing that I have dealt with is that one of the HCDC staff members put in her two weeks notice. What has been refreshing to see is how the office has not only supported her in her transition out of the office. It was also really nice to see how the staff immediately divided her responsibilities so that in the midst of transition, the needs of the students are still being met.

As a future Student Affairs professional, I understand there will always be transition into a position, but I honestly have never considered how often people may be transitioning out of a position or a university as a whole. I have learned that just as I must utilize strategies to adapt to new professionals transitioning into my department, I must also employ tactics that maintain the daily operations of my department as professionals transition out as well. In terms of International Student Orientation, things are still going well, and we have just confirmed that we will be able to get Dr. Keenum to do a welcome on the second day! So exciting! Now I have been nailing down scheduling of sessions for the most part and contacting presenters with specific instructions for the International Student Orientation. This has been such a rewarding experience!
