Treptow – Week 3 – Environmental Collaborative Office

I feel like nothing new has happened this week – and sorry no pictures yet!  Wednesday I met with Rob and found out a lot about green roofs.  I’ve been trying to read the material that he gave me so that I can have a better understanding before trying to sell others on the idea.  I’m hoping to meet with Fred Mock this week to discuss the possibility of using a residence hall as the test site for this project.

It was great to have a long weekend off, especially since I was coming down with something.  It’s moments like this when I realize how important it is to have balance and to realize where I’m spending my time.  I love what I do so it is easy for me to overextend myself, but in moments when my body physically tells me to slow down, it’s a nice reminder!  So lesson of the week is – Take care of yourself!!

  1. Amelia,
It’s crazy that you wrote about balance because sometimes I wonder how you do it all! As RD’s our job can be very taxing, with committees, supervising a full staff, plus outside of housing committees can be a lot. Saying no can be hard but sometimes that no sounds REAL GOOD when you have a cold and high fever. I’m so excited to see what the future holds for you, you have so many amazing talents. But those attributes won’t stand out if you continue to wear yourself too thin. After reading your resume and cover letter I was thinking WOW this girl has put in work lol.
Your practicum experience maybe starting off slow but I know you will make sure the results are produce. Try not to get discouraged I’m sure the moment you find the research needed Fred Mock will be sold on the idea.
    Good Luck,
    Gretchen

  2. Amelia,

I am sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. You are right, the body has it's "ways" of telling us to slow down. Finding the "balance" is key in teaching students and as you consider yourself as a future professional. Hopefully, by this time you are back in business and ready to roll with the punches once again. Looking forward to learning more about your roof project. You can do this. Just one step at a time.
